We are well on our way to meeting our goal of going the distance to our Marines in Afghanistan! We have completed almost 700 miles so far. We are continuing to meet on Saturday mornings at the Greenway Trail across from Marston Pavilion on base. If you are not in the area, please continue to send me an email with the miles you have achieved for the week.
If you run, walk, bike, swim, or any other activity that has you traveling a distance, count those miles and keep track each day. It is a small way to stay motivated and help the days by quicker until we are celebrating the return of our Marines.
Spread the word to other spouses and families! It is not too late to join us and the more the merrier!
If you have any questions, please email me at run2af@gmail.com.
Stay motivated,
Kathryn Conner

211 Miles Completed and Counting!
Thanks to the motivated spouses & families of 2d LAR Bn we are well on our way to going the distance from Camp Lejeune to Afghanistan! The turn out was great at the first Saturday run and so far we have run, walked, biked and swam over 211 miles!
We are collecting the miles each Saturday so please continue to log your miles and give them to me at the Saturday run or through email to Run2AF@gmail.com.
The next meeting for the Run to Afghanistan group will be at the Hope for Warriors run on May 14th. The run has multiple distances and is stroller friendly. I will bring a sign so we can find each other after the run.
Stay motivated ladies and keep up the good work!

Join Us!
Join 2d LAR spouses as we attempt to collectively log 7,000 miles and "Run to Afghanistan" this deployment!
Register for the program at the kick-off on Saturday, May 7th. Then record the miles you run, bike, swim, walk, or skate during the week. Weekly totals will be collected by email or on Saturday mornings, when we meet at various trails on base to run and/or walk. Children (run, skate, scoot, bike) are encouraged to register and attend. All fitness levels are welcome.
Meet at the Green Way trail on Seth Williams Blvd across from Marston Pavilion at 9AM on May 7. "Step-off" is at 930AM. We will run/walk 3-4 miles on an out-and-back path, so you can turn around at any time.
Going out of town? Only able to make it one Saturday a month? No problem. Join us and submit mileage when you can. We also plan to participate in local races. Mark your calendars and register for the Run for the Warriors (5k/10k/13.1m) in Jacksonville on May 14.
If we take this deployment one step at a time, by November we'll be able to say, "We Ran to Afghanistan!"
